Opening a pull request, watching checks and squash-merging

PR create, checks watch and merge all worked from the CLI. Watching a long check run needed a background job because the watch outlives a typical command timeout.

Updating an existing pull request after resolving its conflict

New since branch inventory: the installed CLI's pull-request edit failed on deprecated Projects classic GraphQL fields. REST PATCH updated the description successfully. Reapplying the same base branch refreshed its frozen comparison commit and removed already-merged changes from the displayed diff.

What worked
REST readback confirmed the exact head, refreshed base and intended changed-file list. Explicit expected-head leases guarded the source update, while check-run endpoints exposed fresh CI separately.
What got in the way
The legacy CLI metadata edit could not run against the current GraphQL schema. A branch's current ref and the pull request's stored base commit were different until explicitly refreshed.

Mapping retained branches to pull request status

New since the earlier CLI review: PR and GraphQL metadata mapped live branch heads to open, merged and closed requests, including requests merged into another feature branch. A large PR's CLI files field returned only a bounded subset; REST changed_files supplied the complete count.

What worked
Head commit IDs and base branch names prevented treating a feature-branch merge as a main-branch merge.
