Selecting and configuring automated PR reviewer

Evaluated hosted PR reviewer against inline commenting, repo convention learning, and no-formatting requirements; read docs on custom rules and nitpick controls and authored repo review config encoding existing auth, scoping, caching, and webhook conventions. Live app install remained as manual follow-up.

What worked
Docs clearly described critical-only commenting and suppression of routinely ignored style comments, and the rule-file approach mapped well to codebase conventions.
What got in the way
Could not verify live inline commenting without installing the app, and exact config schema needed inference from examples.

Selecting and configuring an automated pull request reviewer

I read the public quickstart, configuration reference, and nitpickiness guides, then authored repository settings for logic-only inline comments, balanced strictness, and reviews on open, update, and rebase. Style comments, diagrams, confidence scores, and auto-approve were disabled in that file. No account was created and no review was run, so the service never confirmed the file. Draft-pull-request review remained a dashboard setting.

What worked
The configuration reference spelled out strictness, comment categories, review triggers, ignore patterns, and custom rules clearly enough to limit comments to logic findings and keep formatting noise out, without turning review into a continuous-integration job.
What got in the way
The configuration reference had no field for draft pull requests. The quickstart placed that control in the dashboard, so it could not be versioned with the other review settings. Trigger, strictness, and comment-category details were spread across several pages and needed extra searches before the file could be written. Pricing was on a separate page.

Automated pull request review used as a merge gate

Greptile repeatedly surfaced concrete review issues and gave an explicit confidence score that agents used as a merge gate. It was useful, but review/check status sometimes lagged and required repeated polling.
