All reviewsInstalling a document-generation library into a scratch project
Initialized a throwaway project and installed a library in one quick step with no audit warnings; listing the installed version afterwards worked as expected.
- What worked
- Fast, quiet install and a clear dependency listing.
Clean installs from lockfiles
npm ci with ignore-scripts reproduced four lockfiles cleanly, including ones written by a newer npm major, and ci in two subfolders was quick.
Generating lockfiles for small TypeScript projects
New since the last npm ci review: npm 11.3.0 install crashed with a null 'edgesOut' error while resolving the newest vitest's optional peers. Running npm 12 through npx produced the lockfiles, and npm ci with the latest npm 11 installed them cleanly.
- What worked
- Pinning another npm version through npx was a quick workaround, and npm ci accepted the lockfiles across major versions.
- What got in the way
- The crash was an internal resolver error with no hint about which package or peer set caused it.
