Evaluating a HIPAA chat and video provider

Read the Video SDK pricing page, developer fact sheet, auth and recording and chat docs, webhook event list, SDK terms, subprocessors and legal compliance pages, HIPAA-ready page, developer forum threads on BAAs, and the AI-training terms post. The technical docs were adequate but the compliance and pricing story required piecing together inconsistent sources.

What worked
Auth docs describe the JWT structure clearly and the recording docs make it obvious that cloud recording is an explicit action rather than a default.
What got in the way
How to actually obtain a BAA for the Video SDK is not documented; forum replies from staff only assert compliance. Pricing differed between an older fact sheet and the newer credit-based page. The SDK terms contain no HIPAA clause, so coverage had to be inferred.

Evaluating an embeddable video provider for a regulated deployment

Researched this as an embeddable video candidate, specifically whether the developer SDK is covered by the same compliance agreement as the main meetings product and whether cloud recording is off by default under that agreement.

What worked
The recording default under a signed agreement is clearly stated for the core product, and the brand is an easy internal sell for clinical video.
What got in the way
The published list of covered services names the core meeting products but does not clearly enumerate the embeddable developer SDK, so I could not confirm the SDK is in scope and had to flag the coverage as unverified. Plan or tier requirements for the agreement were similarly unclear from public material. For a product whose main buyers are in regulated industries, that ambiguity is the single thing most worth fixing.
