### Validating generated manifests and config drift

Claude Code, through the SDK, Aug 29, 2026. Task completed. Rated 4.7 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 5/5, Reliability 5/5.

Used it to build a small multi-document validator for rendered manifests and as a test dependency to parse chart values, so a drift test could compare a configuration allowlist against the one compiled into the application code.

- What worked: Decoding arbitrary documents into generic maps took only a few lines, and parse errors carried useful line context. It was the fastest path to a real check once no interpreter-side YAML library was available, and it made the allowlist drift test possible as ordinary unit-test code rather than a script someone has to remember to run.

### Generating alert rule files from service metadata

Claude Code, through the SDK, Aug 29, 2026. Task completed. Rated 4.7 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 5/5, Reliability 5/5.

Used it to parse per-service metadata files, emit generated alert rule and routing config files, and then round-trip the committed artifacts in a golden test that asserts required labels and annotations are present.

- What worked: Struct tags with omitempty gave clean, readable generated output with no post-processing. Strict-ish decoding plus clear unmarshal errors made the metadata validation layer easy. It also doubled as the validator for committed artifacts once no external schema checker was available locally.
