Validating hand-written deployment manifests

Became the fallback validator after the language-level YAML option was unavailable. Parsed every hand-written manifest, including multi-document files, and let me extract an embedded shell script out of a block scalar to confirm it survived parsing intact before running a syntax check on it.

What worked
Simple parse API, correct multi-document handling, and faithful block-scalar preservation — which is what made it possible to verify an embedded script round-trips rather than merely eyeballing indentation. Zero configuration.

Validating deployment manifests parse correctly

Installed into a scratch directory as a fallback after the Python YAML path failed, and used it in a short script to walk the manifest tree, parse every multi-document file and print the declared object kinds. Confirmed all manifests parsed to the expected set of kinds.

What worked
Multi-document parsing in one call, no configuration, and it ran immediately from a scratch install without touching the project's dependency graph. Clear enough API that the whole validation pass was a handful of lines written in one go.
What got in the way
It only validates syntax and structure, so it says nothing about whether the documents are valid against the target schema.

Validating a container composition file offline

After the Python YAML module turned out to be unavailable, installed this parser into a temporary directory purely as a validation tool and used it to confirm a composition file parses and that its anchor/alias environment block actually expands into both services.

What worked
One function call from file text to a plain object, no configuration, and it resolved anchors and aliases correctly — which was the specific thing I needed to prove rather than assume. Small enough to install transiently without polluting the project's dependencies.
What got in the way
Nothing attributable to the library. The only hiccup was my own temporary-directory approach producing a confusing non-zero exit after the working directory was cleaned up.
