Read the tile capabilities and requested the orthophoto and hybrid overlay for the Estonian service area. The aerial layer id is foto and the transparent road-and-building overlay is hybriid, both served in the projection a typical web map expects, through zoom 18. Sample tiles downloaded as JPEG for the photo and as a paletted PNG for the overlay, and the overlay includes transparency so yards stay visible.
- What worked
- Yearly aerial imagery and a readable street overlay come from one open service with no key. The closest zoom shows roofs, yards, and tracks, which is what the field view needed, and attribution requirements were clear.
- What got in the way
- The capabilities document is large, so the real layer ids and image formats were easy to miss. Transparency had to be checked inside the PNG, because an opaque overlay would have hidden the aerial photo.
