Looked up the REST VAT-number check request and response, then implemented a small client used before cross-border collection. Tests cover a rejected identifier and an unavailable service. The live check endpoint was not called.
- What worked
- A search for the check-vat-number request and response was enough to code a guard that blocks a cross-border debit when the identifier is rejected or the lookup cannot be completed.
- What got in the way
- The recorded steps used a web search and did not include a primary API manual. No live request was made, so latency, error payloads, and uptime were not observed.
