### Selecting a self-hosted basemap approach

Inspected as the client-side renderer for self-hosted vector tiles. Checked its published manifest rather than installing it, and found its latest release constrains the host map library to the previous major version. Adopting it would have meant downgrading and freezing the core map dependency, so I did not install it and chose a raster path instead.

- What got in the way: The latest release is a major version behind the map library it plugs into, which transitively pins the whole application. For a small team this is a real maintenance liability, and it is only discoverable by reading the dependency constraints directly.
