Adding an offline map to a run screen

UIKit hosted the map view and the on-map credit control. A deprecated content-edge inset was replaced with button configuration to avoid a warning on newer systems. Credit-button constraints were checked by reading the layout code, not on a device.

What worked
Button configuration replaced the deprecated inset API cleanly in source, and the map view could be embedded for the tile overlay, pin, and user location.
What got in the way
Deprecation of the older button inset API was an extra pass, and small-screen sizing of the credit control was only reasoned about. No runtime layout check was possible.

Rendering and caching a map image for offline use

Used the image renderer and image types to draw a route line and a meeting-point marker on top of a rendered map image, then encode it for storage on disk.

What worked
The block-based image renderer is a compact way to composite drawing on top of an existing image, and converting the result to compressed data for disk is a one-liner.
What got in the way
The renderer defaults to the device screen scale, which quietly upscales an image that was already rendered at a chosen scale; the format object has to be configured explicitly to avoid it, and that pitfall is not prominent in the docs.

Styling and framing an embedded native map

Relied on UIKit types used by the MapLibre integration for native view presentation, colors, and map edge padding. The APIs were clear enough to implement from headers, but they were not executed in the Linux environment.
