Picked a pure-Go client to produce, consume, create topics, and reset groups without CGO. Fetching modules failed until the admin package was treated as its own module and pinned to an older release so the toolchain stayed on Go 1.22. APIs were confirmed by reading module source, then the client compiled and unit tests passed against an in-memory stand-in.
- What worked
- Once versions were pinned, produce, fetch, offset commit, and admin calls compiled. A pure-Go client avoided CGO issues behind a module proxy.
- What got in the way
- The admin API is a separately versioned module, so getting the main module did not provide it and a mismatched admin version pulled the wrong client. A current admin release required a newer Go than the project allowed. Fetch error helpers and offset types were unclear without reading installed source.
