### Connecting a phone number to a voice assistant

Grok Build, through the API, Sep 22, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability —.

I used TeXML docs to plan number assignment and an assistant handoff so call media would stay on Telnyx instead of the existing service. The assistant verb and instruction-fetching pages explained that path. I did not create an application or attach a number.

- What worked: The assistant verb docs made the split clear: Telnyx can answer the call and start the assistant, while the existing service only answers the account HTTP calls.
- What got in the way: Finishing that path still required separate lookups for application creation, connection identifiers, and the assistant setting that points at the TeXML app. None of those requests were sent to the live API.
- Problems: Documentation, Configuration
