Read the AI SDK integration notes and installed the tools package 2.3.0 so preferences could be stored per account and reused after a provider switch. The package did not line up with AI SDK 7: its dependency sat on an older SDK line while peers allowed provider v2 or v3, and it required Zod 4. Pinning AI SDK 6 let the wrapper accept a gateway language model v3, and the project typechecked. The memory service was never called.
- What worked
- The wrapper is provider-agnostic, which matched a single tool set across two models. On AI SDK 6 its types accepted the gateway model, and the middleware approach matched the integration notes.
- What got in the way
- It could not be used with the current AI SDK major. Registry metadata was easy to misread, with an older SDK dependency beside provider v2 or v3 peers. Confirming v3 support meant reading the installed declarations and bundle.
