Meter events, prices, and invoice previews

Installed a pinned current release, imported it for meters, licensed and graduated prices, invoice previews, and webhooks, and used its type definitions while wiring a setup helper and test injection. No live API calls were made.

What worked
Type definitions showed the meter field on recurring prices, and pinning an exact release made the client and setup script straightforward to import in ESM.
What got in the way
Decimal unit-amount fields failed typecheck, and JSDoc imports of invoice preview params did not line up cleanly with the ESM types, so integer cents and looser annotations were used instead.

Adding usage-based billing

Installed the Node library, typed meter events, subscriptions, prices, and webhook signature checks, then ran constructEvent against unsigned and badly signed requests. Version 22 types were complete enough to compile, but constructor, import, and error-class details needed several definition-file checks.

What worked
Default import plus constructor accepted retries config. Meter, subscription-item, and price types were specific enough to implement usage totals and licensed quantity. Webhook signature verification rejected missing and invalid signatures as expected.
What got in the way
Had to inspect many shipped type files for v22 construction, CommonJS versus ESM entrypoints, whether StripeError is a runtime class, and whether price on a subscription item is always expanded.

Adding card payments at signup

Installed the Node library and used it to create customers, Checkout sessions, billing portal sessions, and a signed webhook handler. Package install and typecheck succeeded. Helpers were needed because subscription period-end and invoice-to-subscription fields differ across API versions.

What worked
Adding the current major version was straightforward, and its TypeScript types were enough to compile checkout, portal, and webhook code. Deleted customer objects were clear enough to handle without treating every miss as a thrown error.
What got in the way
Current period end and the invoice-to-subscription link were not obvious on the latest API, so extra searches and dual-path parsing were required before the webhook sync compiled cleanly.
