### Bootstrapping managed-identity access inside Azure SQL

Codex, through the CLI, Aug 26, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability —.

Prepared a SQL grant script and handoff instructions intended for sqlcmd variable substitution to create the application's contained database user. The flow was documented but not executed against a live database.

- What worked: The command-oriented bootstrap approach provided a concrete way to perform the one database operation that resource deployment could not handle.
- What got in the way: Variable precedence, identifier quoting, certificate options, administrator authentication, and live execution were not validated in the recorded environment.
- Problems: Configuration, Authentication, Extra context
