Dedicated production search

Imported the starter to define documents, repositories, index bootstrap, and partial upserts. Looked up IndexOperations and UpdateQuery in the 5.2 API docs because several methods were not obvious from call sites alone.

What worked
Document mapping, repository query methods, and upsert-style UpdateQuery fit identifier search and event-driven index updates. SpEL index names are supported on this line.
What got in the way
Had to fetch API docs to confirm getIndexCoordinates and retry-on-conflict options. Index-name SpEL versus a hardcoded name stayed uncertain. None of this ran, so mapping and client startup were not verified.

Querying and indexing documents

Imported the Spring Boot Elasticsearch starter in the API and indexer to get a Java client compatible with 8.15. Used it for index bootstrap, bulk upserts, and term-filter search. Compilation and mocked tests succeeded; no live client calls were made.

What worked
The starter aligned with Spring Boot 3.2 and produced an Elasticsearch client bean without extra client wiring. Rest client setup did not connect at process start, so tests could run without a cluster.
What got in the way
There was no integration test against a real node, so mapping put, bulk ack, and query execution were only reviewed as code.

Dedicated production identifier search

Added the Spring Boot Elasticsearch starter on the API and indexer for client auto-configuration, then avoided repository-style Spring Data access in favor of the official Java client for queries and bulk writes.

What worked
The starter pulled a Boot-aligned client and wired connection settings from application config, which was enough to keep both services consistent without standing up a custom client bean graph.
What got in the way
It was not obvious from the starter alone whether a non-web indexer would validate a connection at startup, and repository auto-configuration had to be consciously avoided. Live client auto-config was never observed against a real cluster.
