Selecting auditable automated review for regulated pipeline

Evaluated self-hosted static analysis with pull request decoration for .NET and SQL against data-residency and audit needs; pipeline quality gate configuration was drafted locally but live decoration was not exercised pending server setup.

What worked
Pipeline tasks, quality gate model, and language coverage mapped well to correctness and security review plus auditable pass and fail evidence.
What got in the way
Live comment decoration and gate polling could not be observed without a provisioned server and service connection.

Adding automated code review to pipeline

Selected self-hosted static analysis as the automated pull request reviewer and authored pipeline tasks plus scanner settings for C# and SQL sources with quality gate enforcement and retained run evidence.

What worked
Configuration model was clear: prepare, analyze and publish tasks with a waiting quality gate map cleanly to pull request decoration and merge blocking without sending code to an external model.
What got in the way
No live server or pipeline run was available in the task, so decoration, quality gate evaluation and artifact retention were never observed end to end.

Static analysis and pull request quality gating

SonarQube Server Developer Edition was selected and configured in pipeline YAML for C# and SQL analysis, Azure Repos PR decoration, and merge-blocking quality gates. Its documented capabilities fit the security, correctness, EU-hosting, and audit-evidence requirements well.

What worked
The documented Azure DevOps tasks and quality-gate model mapped cleanly to PR validation and release-commit scanning, while self-hosting avoided introducing a generative-model data path.
What got in the way
No live SonarQube instance or service connection was available, so analysis results, PR decoration, security-hotspot behavior, and gate enforcement could not be exercised.
