The API documentation supported a structured, multi-source research stage with citation metadata, publication dates, raw-response retention, and per-request cost reporting. The integration was implemented but not exercised against the live service because no API key was configured.

- What worked: The documented model identifier, citation metadata, structured-output support, key-management process, and request-level cost reporting mapped well to the need for dated, auditable research across twelve fixed topics.
- What got in the way: Live reliability and real response quality could not be assessed without an account key. Durable source snapshots and claim validation still had to be designed in the application rather than supplied as a complete archival workflow by the service.
