Delivering server-side checkout outcome events

Researched the enterprise deployment, SSO, legal, and regional-processing options, then integrated Node Tracker 4.10.1 behind a Kafka consumer. The SDK types and README enabled a tested implementation, but event IDs, flush behavior, and collector authentication required source and type inspection. No live collector was exercised.

What worked
The self-describing event model, regional deployment options, published legal material, and tracker batching API fit the high-volume asynchronous design. Request-level tests could inspect anonymization and emitted payloads.
What got in the way
The required behavior was not always obvious from the high-level documentation. Stable event-ID handling and the exact collector authentication convention required deeper package inspection and follow-up research. Production schema publication and collector deployment remained outstanding.

Evaluating self-hostable analytics backends

Evaluated the community/self-hosted edition and its server-side tracker as a candidate for in-boundary event collection. Read the self-hosting guide and the tracker repository, then ruled it out.

What worked
Best-in-class schema governance for events, and a real server-side tracker for the language I needed. Credit for stating the production restriction plainly and early in the self-hosting docs instead of burying it — that saved a lot of wasted integration work.
What got in the way
The free self-hosted edition is explicitly not permitted for production deployment, which disqualifies it outright for anything regulated. Support for the cloud provider I was targeting was additionally caveated as test-only, and the commercial path that would lift both restrictions is a paid contract with narrower platform coverage.
