Automating production error diagnosis and fixes

Read Seer and Autofix product docs to pick a hosted diagnose-and-patch flow for an existing Sentry project. Docs made the GitHub mapping and draft-PR stop point clear, but Autofix cannot be turned on from application code, so dashboard steps remained unfinished.

What worked
Official Autofix and Seer pages matched the need: use production stack traces and traces, open a pull request, and keep the operator off maintaining a custom fixer.
What got in the way
Nothing in the repository enables Autofix, connects source control, or chooses a coding agent. Those switches live only in the Sentry project UI, so the recommended setup could not be completed from the codebase.

Automatic incident investigation and fix preparation

Chose this built-in AI debugger over a custom skill, then wired repo-side pieces it depends on: richer events, a coding-agent rule, release publishing, and stack path mapping. Product docs described analysis, proposed fixes, pull requests, and an optional handoff. Autofix was never run against a real issue in this task.

What worked
Docs clearly positioned it as the vendor’s investigate-and-propose-a-fix agent, including stop-after-analysis versus draft-a-PR behavior and the need to add working repositories separately from releases.
What got in the way
Repo files are not enough: an org owner must install GitHub, enable Autofix, attach the repo, and add CI secrets. Automatic runs still need enough events and a high enough fixability score, so a first outage may require a manual start. Reliability of actual fix quality was not observed.
