Synthesising sound effects and a music bed

Used scipy.signal Butterworth filters and FFT convolution to shape synthesised effects, filtered pads and a short reverb for a video soundtrack, run through uv without a project install.

What worked
sosfilt and fftconvolve were fast enough to rebuild a 32 s stereo track in seconds, deterministically with a fixed seed.
What got in the way
Band-pass sweeps need manual chunking, since the filters are static per call.

Cross-validating a hand-rolled statistical test

Used scipy.stats.mannwhitneyu as a reference implementation to validate a custom one-sided Mann-Whitney U test written in C#. Ran it on the real sample data from control and slowdown runs; results matched to four decimal places on every comparison.

What worked
The function signature made the one-sided alternative and tie handling explicit, so it was a trustworthy oracle with almost no setup.
