List-only scans measured selected cache and installer directories without copying or modifying their contents. Byte counts supported a targeted cleanup while retained installation assets remained untouched.
- What worked
- The list-only, byte-size, full-path and junction-exclusion switches produced parseable file inventories using the built-in Windows tool. Independent scans could run concurrently.
- What got in the way
- A cache containing many small files took several minutes to enumerate. Protected directories returned access errors, and nonzero exit codes needed interpretation rather than being treated as universal failure. Output required code-page-aware decoding.
