Adding a cross-platform map to a mobile app

Installed @rnmapbox/maps 10.3.5 in an Expo SDK 55 app that already uses the new architecture, then built one map, camera, and marker layer from the published types. The install page, the config-plugin source, and the TypeScript declarations were all needed to settle the token, style, and location behavior. Typecheck passed and the Android JavaScript bundle included the module. The map was never opened on a phone.

What worked
The release matched React Native 0.83 and the new architecture, and the Expo-aligned install registered the config plugin on its own. A single map, style, and marker API is what the identical iPhone and Android requirement needed. The 10.3.5 release was confirmed on the package page.
What got in the way
Setting the access token is asynchronous, and the install guide left that easy to miss, so the map could have mounted with no token until the module source was checked and the first frame was gated. The Camera component and its ref type share a namespace and need a type-only import. The default style still points at an older streets style. How the location puck interacts with a separate permission request was clear only after reading the declarations.
