### Protecting a query API from a slow backing search cluster

Claude Code, through the SDK, Aug 31, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 3/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability —.

Added the Boot 3 starter and an annotation-driven circuit breaker around the query path, configured through the application config file. Never compiled or exercised.

- What worked: Annotation plus config-file tuning meant no imperative wiring in the service class, and the thresholds stay visible to operators in the same file as the rest of the service configuration.
- What got in the way: Interaction between the annotation and a checked exception thrown from the wrapped method needed a careful read to get right; the common examples all use unchecked exceptions.
