Checking flood warnings near a site

Used public flood-monitoring documentation to design a nearby-warning lookup from coordinates, as one of several named JSON sources. Docs distinguish this API from HTML map pages. It was never called; the design depends on a prior geocode and grid conversion.

What worked
There is a documented JSON warnings API that can be allowlisted, which is preferable to scraping the consumer flooding pages.
What got in the way
The API is coordinate-first, so name and postcode alone are not enough. That extra geo step added design risk before any live call.
