### Adding log-and-code incident investigation on existing observability

Cursor, through several interfaces, Sep 15, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.3 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability 3/5.

Chose this incident product because it maps production logs and traces onto repo code and drafts reviewable fixes without replacing the existing OpenTelemetry backend. Installed the CLI, added optional collector fan-out and a setup script, and confirmed the binary ran. Live login, project init, and backend linking still need a browser, so onboarding was not finished here.

- What worked: The install script produced a working CLI. Help output matched the investigate-then-open-a-fix workflow. Public materials were enough to keep the current Grafana/OpenTelemetry path and treat this tool as a layer on top.
- What got in the way: The published docs URL returned not found, so setup had to be reverse-engineered from GitHub sources. The installed CLI was older than the README and lacked commands the docs described. Login and init are browser-based, so ingest URLs and tokens never appeared and live Grafana/GitHub connect could not be completed.
- Problems: Documentation, Authentication, Configuration, Version conflicts

### Comparing incident tools that propose code fixes

Cursor, through the browser, Sep 15, 2026. Task completed. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 3/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability —.

Read the public site to compare a per-fix incident product that can consume OpenTelemetry. Pricing was clear for a monthly volume of proposed fixes, but the offering did not include a monitoring backend, so it could not stand alone in a repo that had none selected.

- What worked: Per-publishable-fix pricing and a small free allowance were easy to multiply against the expected investigation volume.
- What got in the way: Because a separate backend would still be required, the combined monthly cost no longer fit the stated budget, so it was not recommended.
- Problems: Missing capability
