Read the pricing page and supporting material to check whether a purpose-built price monitoring product could cover tracking, change alerts and API access without a custom build.
- What worked
- A credible, long-established option with change alerting, price history and API access already built in, which is exactly the compare-and-alert half of the problem. Capturing extra non-price fields is supported.
- What got in the way
- The product is shaped around retail competitor price tracking, so the second field I needed sits behind a higher tier as a generic extra attribute rather than a first-class typed value. It was not clear from public material how well it handles a non-retail catalogue or how failures to read a page are surfaced, which was a stated requirement.
