Installed and configured the pure-JavaScript Postgres driver as the ORM's backend, chosen specifically because it has no native build step and therefore survives a zip-and-deploy pipeline without binary compatibility risk. It was never connected to a live server, so only installation and configuration were exercised.
- What worked
- Install was instant with no compilation step, which was the whole reason for choosing it. Wiring it through the ORM's connection options required no driver-specific configuration beyond a connection string.
- What got in the way
- Its default of returning 64-bit integers as strings is inherited by anything built on top, and that only became visible when designing money columns; it needed an explicit conversion layer. No runtime behavior could be observed without a server.
