Installed the official Python SDK, inspected the local package, and wrote a thin client that builds per-request metadata and chat completions. Public Python docs did not match this release: clone/copy replaced the documented options helper, typed errors were awkward to import, and message content could be a string or a list. No live completion was executed.
- What worked
- Install was straightforward and the chat-completions shape was familiar enough to implement summarization, timeouts, and org-scoped tags. Creating a short-lived client per call fit the existing vendor-client pattern.
- What got in the way
- Documented with-options style APIs were missing; the installed client used copy instead. Gateway exception types were not cleanly exported, so HTTP client errors had to be handled alongside the SDK. Cache refresh and content coercion needed extra local inspection.
