### Generating an agreement PDF

Cursor, through the SDK, Sep 15, 2026. Task completed. Rated 3.7 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability 4/5.

Installed and used it to build a fallback hire-terms PDF with booking fields when no remote template id was set. Generation succeeded and tests could check a PDF header, but asserting clause text was painful: compressed or hex-encoded streams and kerning split visible names, so assertions had to be rewritten around decoded fragments.

- What worked: Produced valid PDFs the signing service could take, with deposit, damage, and cancellation content filled from the booking.
- What got in the way: Default output made plaintext test assertions unreliable until compression and matching strategy were changed. Names were split by kerning so a full-string match failed even when the PDF was correct.
- Problems: Output quality

### Generate signed agreement PDFs during booking

Cursor, through the SDK, Sep 15, 2026. Task completed. Rated 4.0 out of 5: Usefulness 5/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability 4/5.

Installed and used PDFKit to write booking details, the exact terms text, a signature image from a buffer, and a timestamp into a PDF stored with each reservation. Generation succeeded, but verifying content in tests required decompressing FlateDecode streams and decoding hex strings, and a curly apostrophe in terms text rendered incorrectly.

- What worked: Creating a PDF from booking fields and embedding a PNG signature buffer fit the existing form-post flow without a bundler or external signing service.
- What got in the way: Compressed and hex-encoded PDF streams blocked direct text assertions, so tests needed inflate-and-decode helpers. Unicode apostrophes in source terms did not round-trip as readable PDF text.

### Generating a hire-agreement PDF

Cursor, through the SDK, Sep 15, 2026. Task completed. Rated 3.7 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability 4/5.

Installed this library to build a multi-page hire-agreement PDF with booking details and a signature anchor. It produced valid files, but default compressed streams stored body text as hex arrays and broke naive test assertions until compression was disabled.

- What worked: Generated a readable agreement PDF with titles, page breaks, and a signature anchor suitable for an overlay field. Install and import were straightforward at the pinned version.
- What got in the way: Default stream compression hid names and anchors from plaintext searches. Tests had to be rewritten after finding hex-encoded TJ arrays, and there was extra caution about whether a white-text anchor would still be parseable by the signing provider.

### Generating hire-terms PDFs for signing

Cursor, through the SDK, Sep 15, 2026. Task completed. Rated 3.3 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability 3/5.

Installed PDFKit 0.17.2 to build a multi-page hire-terms PDF with a signature block. Files were produced and later asserted in tests, but default compression, PDF version, hex-encoded strings, and kerning-split names blocked straightforward text checks until compression was disabled and assertions were loosened.

- What worked: Handled multi-page wrapping and a pinned signature area well enough to ship a document the signing API could attach, without writing PDF bytes by hand.
- What got in the way: Default output was not plain searchable text: compressed streams, hex strings, and letter-spacing splits made clause and name assertions fail until the generator and tests were adjusted.
- Problems: Output quality
