Chose this Search API after comparing vendors, then implemented an HTTP client from public docs so each hit could be stored as a passage, link, and source date. Pricing, signup, and contract pages were enough to brief expected cost at low yearly volume. The live API was never called, so runtime behavior was not observed.
- What worked
- Public docs made the result shape clear: extractive excerpts, URL, and publish date on an on-demand request, which matched storing evidence rather than a generated brief. Pricing was request-based and easy to map to about sixty lookups a year, including free credit if a card is on file. No SDK was required; a single POST was straightforward to code against.
- What got in the way
- An official quickstart URL returned 404, so setup had to be pieced together from pricing, FAQ, and terms pages. Customer terms around storing and sharing output needed a careful read because the feature depends on keeping passages on the record. Scheduled Monitor docs were easy to separate from Search, but billing and contract details took several fetches.
