Implementing vector search in a web app

Added a meaning-search route, templates, and header form on the existing Flask app, kept category browsing unchanged, and used the Flask CLI plus the test client to exercise pages. Application config was a clean place to swap a real embedder for a test double.

What worked
Routing, templates, app factory config, the test client, and flask run all behaved as expected. Search sat beside existing browse pages without breaking them.

Adding semantic catalog search

Added a describe-to-search route, header form, and result page on the existing catalog app, and ran the development server to check home, empty search, and query responses. Browse and detail routes still worked after the change.

What worked
Routing, templates, and the debug server were enough to ship the search UI and confirm existing pages still rendered. Missing credentials were handled in-app instead of crashing the server.

Adding catalog search

Added a GET search route, a site-wide form, and a results page that reuses the catalog table and pagination. Verified behavior with the Flask test client rather than a browser.

What worked
Existing app factory, templates, static CSS, and test client made it straightforward to add search without new packages or a JSON API, and the new tests passed.
