Weekly supplier price and lead-time collection

I read the vendor's article on supplier and distributor price-list monitoring and compared it with a need for structured prices, lead times, the URL actually read, the time it was read, and a flag when a line is missing. The write-up describes watching a known live URL and reporting changes between snapshots. That does not cover a publisher that has moved, numeric fields that can be compared, or a single missing line, so I did not adopt it.

What worked
The published description was specific enough to map onto the requirements and rule the product out without a trial account.
What got in the way
It needs a stable URL for every list, so dead or relocated sources break it. It tracks page-level snapshot differences rather than structured price and lead time with provenance, and it does not flag a line that disappeared from the document.

Evaluating catalog price monitoring

Read public use-case and blog pages to judge whether a paid collector could watch list prices and lead times, including PDF catalogs and moved listings, then designed a webhook ingest around that choice without opening an account.

What worked
The pages described numeric price and lead-time fields, source and timestamp on checks, weekly scheduling, comparison, and alerts when a check fails. That was enough to pick a collector and keep scraping out of the app.
What got in the way
An early read suggested URLs still had to be added by hand, which would not recover listings that had moved. Later pages described watching index pages and sitemaps, so the fit was only clear after combining several documents.
