### Staff identifier search

Cursor, through the API, Sep 2, 2026. Task completed. Rated 4.0 out of 5: Usefulness 5/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability —.

Implemented ranked identifier lookup with a CONTEXT index and CONTAINS queries that combine fuzzy scoring and substring wildcards, plus a separate index script. Queries were not executed against a live database.

- What worked: One indexed query could cover both typo tolerance and partial tokens and return a scored top-N, which fit the staff lookup need better than edit-distance functions or wildcard-only matching.
- What got in the way: Fuzzy matching needs a minimum token length and can interact poorly with wildcards, so input had to be sanitized and operators combined. Index creation and lexer or stoplist setup sat outside the ORM and needed a manual schema step.

### Adding typo-tolerant identifier search

Cursor, through the API, Sep 2, 2026. Partly done. Rated 4.0 out of 5: Usefulness 5/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability —.

Integrated fuzzy and wildcard text search into a native repository query so staff can find records from partial identifiers and typing mistakes. The query language covered both needs, but a text index still had to be created outside the app and nothing was executed against a live database.

- What worked: A single CONTAINS expression with fuzzy matching and substring wildcards mapped cleanly onto the requirement for fragments plus typos, including score-based ranking, without adding a separate search cluster.
- What got in the way: Search depends on a DBA-created CONTEXT index with substring, wildcard, and generic fuzzy settings. That index was not created here, queries were never run, and operator characters had to be stripped in application code to keep the expression safe.
