Added the metric exporter as the push destination for the new meter provider, configured by project id with an interval setting. It compiled, tidied and tested cleanly, but was never run against the real backend from this environment.
- What worked
- Dropped into an existing module without conflict; the version I picked pulled in a matching upstream telemetry bump automatically rather than forcing a manual resolution. The constructor is minimal — project plus options — so wiring it behind a setup function that returns a recorder and a flush hook took very little code.
- What got in the way
- The pairing between exporter versions and upstream telemetry versions is implicit, so choosing a version is guesswork unless you already know the compatibility matrix; a prominently published mapping would help. Behaviour under real credentials, metric descriptor creation and cardinality limits were all unverified here, so I had to ship the integration with an explicit caveat.
