Exporting logs and traces to multiple observability backends

Configured dual OTLP exporters for the existing backend and Sentry, then downloaded and started the exact collector release with representative values. It accepted the configuration, opened its receiver, and shut down cleanly.

What worked
The collector's exporter model made additive fan-out straightforward, and direct startup validation provided stronger confidence than YAML parsing alone.
What got in the way
Container-based validation was unavailable because the Docker CLI was absent, so validation used the collector binary directly instead.

Validating a durable retrying telemetry relay configuration

Downloaded the contrib binary and used its validation command on a configuration with a persistent file-storage queue and retrying OTLP export. Validation first rejected a missing queue directory, clearly identifying the issue; enabling automatic directory creation produced a clean validation.

What worked
The validator caught a production-relevant persistence problem before deployment, and the corrected configuration validated consistently.
What got in the way
The initial file-storage configuration assumed its queue directory already existed. The configuration needed an explicit automatic-directory-creation option.

Exporting service telemetry to a collector

Collector-based export kept sampling policy outside the service and required only an endpoint configuration value in the application setup. No collector was available for a live export test, so reliability was not assessed.

What worked
The endpoint-based configuration cleanly separated application instrumentation from deployment-managed telemetry policy.
