Auto-instrumenting a model client

Installed the Anthropic OpenTelemetry instrumentor so prompts, completions, latency, tokens, cost, and failures attach to traces without a proxy in the model request path. Checked package-index versions, inspected the installed package after sync, and left live model traffic stubbed in tests.

What worked
It matched the design of recording generation details in-process on the existing model client. A bounded version range installed beside the tracing SDK without adding a new network hop.
What got in the way
The line is still beta, so compatibility with the tracing SDK and other OpenTelemetry packages needed manual version checks. Content-capture defaults and related environment flags were not obvious from the docs used during setup.
