Generating quizzes with tracked usage and provider fallback

Integrated a configurable OpenAI-compatible chat-completions contract for hosted routing, fallback, usage metadata, and model tracking. The request and response contract was tested locally, but no live gateway account or named vendor service was exercised.

What worked
The familiar JSON contract allowed the application to remain independent of an underlying model provider, and the route name, endpoint, API key, and timeout were externally configurable.
What got in the way
Live reliability and actual fallback behavior were not assessed; deployment still required creation of a gateway route and API-key secret.

AI contract summarization with caching, fallback, and cost tracking

Built an OpenAI-compatible gateway boundary for deterministic contract-summary requests, model routing, cache support, fallbacks, and usage attribution. No vendor or live gateway was selected, so service behavior was not exercised.

What worked
The compatible API shape allowed the application boundary, strict response parsing, attribution headers, and deployment settings to remain vendor-neutral.
What got in the way
Caching, fallback routing, spend analytics, authentication, and vendor-specific headers could not be validated without a real gateway account and configuration.
