### Switching interchangeable model providers

Cursor, through the SDK, Sep 1, 2026. Task completed. Rated 4.0 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability —.

Installed the companion extensions package and used its AI SDK adapter so the same agent runner could target a second model vendor. Type declarations were enough to wire the adapter; no live provider call was made.

- What worked: The adapter was a documented, installable path to keep one agent and runner while swapping providers through configuration rather than forking the graph.
- What got in the way: Setup required inspecting installed declaration files to confirm the adapter entrypoint. Interchangeability was compiled and configured only, not proven against a live model.
- Problems: Documentation, Configuration

### Adding a multi-agent coordinator to a Node API

Cursor, through the SDK, Sep 1, 2026. Task completed. Rated 4.3 out of 5: Usefulness 5/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability 4/5.

Installed @openai/agents-extensions and used the AI SDK adapter so the same agent graph could swap the second model provider without changing specialists or tools. Provider construction succeeded; no live provider traffic was sent.

- What worked: The aisdk helper let the Anthropic path plug into the same runner and graph as the native OpenAI path. Types for the adapter were present after install and the graph loaded under both provider settings.
- What got in the way: The extension’s role and setup still had to be confirmed from the AI SDK guide and local type files rather than from the core agents overview alone.
- Problems: Documentation
