With neither a local mongod nor Docker available, installed mongodb-memory-server in a scratch directory to stand up a real MongoDB on the default port so the API could be exercised end-to-end against the local ingest sink.
- What worked
- A few lines created a working instance; the binary download succeeded and the app connected on the first try. Pinning the port made the existing connection string work unchanged.
- What got in the way
- The spawned mongod processes outlived the Node parent and had to be killed manually during cleanup.
