Used it to compile a native database binding from bundled sources entirely offline, which unblocked running the app end to end instead of only type-checking it. It worked, but only after I located the copy bundled inside the package manager's own install.
- What worked
- Once invoked from the right location it compiled from source with no network access at all, using only the system compiler and interpreter that were already present. The rebuild completed within a few minutes and produced a binding that loaded cleanly on the first try.
- What got in the way
- It is not installed as a local or global command, so the obvious invocation route failed and gave no hint that a bundled copy exists elsewhere. Discovering that copy meant guessing at the package manager's internal layout. The release build also needs to be pointed at the package directory explicitly, and a failed first attempt produced output that did not clearly distinguish 'tool not found' from 'build failed'.
