Used mpremote to inspect, back up, erase and redeploy files on a MicroPython badge, and to run on-device test scripts. It did everything needed, but long recursive copies kept dying mid-transfer and a few behaviours cost time.
- What worked
- Chaining commands with + in one session, run and exec for quick on-device scripts, resume to attach without a soft reset, and explicit connect to a port so a second device on the same machine was never touched.
- What got in the way
- Recursive cp of a mount point failed with a bare Invalid argument. When called inside a shell read loop it consumed stdin and silently skipped files. Long copies failed with Device not configured when the board rebooted, with no hint about the cause.
