Evaluating photo OCR for billing recall

Reviewed on-device text recognition and stroke-based digital ink entry. Image OCR shared the low-light handwriting weakness; the strong ink path requires writing-time capture, which is structured entry by another name.

What worked
Docs cleanly separated photo OCR from stroke-based entry, which supported the structured-capture recommendation.
What got in the way
Photo path still missed the accuracy bar for dark handwritten sheets.

Evaluating handwritten job-sheet capture options

Searched the on-device document scanner for torch, flash, and perspective correction as a way to improve van photos. Custom camera capture was built instead.

What worked
The scanner capabilities were easy to map onto the lighting and angle problems in the survey.
What got in the way
The record did not show a clear drop-in for this web app, so capture was implemented with the browser camera instead.
