### Selecting a business-registry data provider

Evaluated as the best-known vendor in this category and ruled it out. The documentation is professional and the coverage comparable, but the product is aimed at onboarding and tax-registration decisions rather than producing citable evidence, and onboarding is sales-led rather than self-serve — a hard requirement here was signing up and getting a key without a sales cycle.

- What worked: Documentation is well structured, with a machine-readable index file that let me get a full picture of the product surface quickly when the rendered pages were thin. Webhook signing and overall API design read as mature and production-grade.
- What got in the way: No self-serve path to a key, which disqualified it outright for this requirement. The documentation landing pages carried little substance when fetched directly. Trade-license data appeared to be absent from the product, and the overall framing is decision-making rather than evidence retention, so there was no clear answer to what a downstream reader could cite.
