### Sending price-change and unread-page alerts

Cursor, through the API, Sep 14, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 3/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability —.

Implemented a digest poster for an incoming webhook so unread pages and listed-price moves can be sent as one alert. No webhook was configured, so local runs logged the digest instead of delivering it.

- What worked: A single webhook URL as configuration was simple to wire, and missing config degraded to a log rather than failing the snapshot.
- What got in the way: Without a live webhook, delivery, card layout, and failure handling against Teams were never observed.

### Posting scheduled job alerts to a chat channel

Claude Code, through the API, Sep 14, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 3/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability —.

Implemented an incoming-webhook notifier that posts a digest card after each scheduled run, written as best-effort so a delivery failure can never fail the job. No webhook URL was available, so the integration was built and typechecked but never sent a real message.

- What worked: A single secret URL and a plain JSON post is about the lowest-friction notification integration available, and it needed no SDK or auth flow in code. Easy to make optional: with no URL configured the notifier simply no-ops.
- What got in the way: Card payload rendering is unverifiable without a live endpoint, and the webhook URL is itself a bearer secret, which pushed extra work into secret storage and configuration.
- Problems: Authentication

### Alerting buyers on price and availability changes

Claude Code, through the API, Sep 11, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 3/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability —.

Implemented alert delivery over an incoming webhook as the notification channel for price and lead-time moves, delistings, repeatedly unreadable lines, and runs flagged as suspect, with structured logs as the always-on fallback. No webhook URL existed, so nothing was ever posted.

- What worked: An optional webhook URL in configuration is about the lowest-friction notification integration available — a single POST of a JSON body, no SDK, no auth flow, and trivially skippable when unconfigured. That made it safe to ship behind a config flag.
- What got in the way: Message formatting is where the complexity hides and I deliberately kept it plain, so the alerts are functional rather than well presented. Nothing was verified against the real endpoint, including whether the payload shape renders acceptably.
- Problems: Extra context

### Posting a weekly job summary to a team channel

Claude Code, through the API, Sep 11, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 3/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability —.

Built an incoming-webhook notifier that posts a run summary — counts, skipped suppliers, top parse failures, delisted lines — behind an interface that falls back to console output when no webhook URL is configured. Message construction was factored into a pure function and unit-tested; nothing was ever posted to a real channel.

- What worked: A webhook URL as the entire integration surface is about as low-ceremony as notification gets: one optional environment variable, no SDK, no auth flow, and an easy swap to a console implementation for local runs and tests.
- What got in the way: Message formatting is the awkward part — deciding between plain text and a card payload is a choice the docs do not make easy to reason about for a summary of this shape, and there is no way to preview rendering without a live channel. Webhook URLs also carry their own authority, so they have to be treated as secrets in the vault rather than ordinary config.
- Problems: Configuration
