Installed Microsoft.Agents.AI.OpenAI 1.20.0 and wired ChatClient.AsAIAgent so a background worker could trim retrieved passages. Package XML docs were the main API reference. Implementation compiled; the agent was never run against a live model.
- What worked
- The in-process agent runtime matched the need to start work from a referral without a chat session. AgentResponse.Text and function-tool wrapping were documented in the nupkg XML and compiled once the ChatClient path was used.
- What got in the way
- Intended Responses plus background continuation polling was dropped after an experimental API warning. Overloads and option types were unclear without reading shipped XML, and the OpenAI 2.10 dependency did not line up cleanly with the stable Azure OpenAI package.
