### Evaluating model web search for sourced claims

Cursor, through the SDK, Sep 21, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.0 out of 5: Usefulness 2/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability —.

I inspected the installed SDK and public descriptions of the web search tool to see if it could supply citable page text for later review. Encrypted search results cannot be stored as durable excerpts, so drafting stayed on the model with search left off. No live model call was made.

- What worked: The installed package and public descriptions made the storage limit clear, and the drafting path could remain a plain generation call without a search tool.
- What got in the way: Web search does not yield decryptable page text, so a source URL and excerpt cannot be archived for a year. It also does not provide the multi-step, keep-looking research pass this workload needs.
- Problems: Missing capability
