Implemented a Go client that posts already-aggregated hourly device and megabyte counts as custom-dimension usage events so Microsoft can rate them onto the customer invoice. Work was against docs and local HTTP tests only; the live metering endpoint was never called.
- What worked
- The usage-event shape, duplicate-as-already-billed behavior, and Partner Center dimension model were clear enough to implement a dedicated client, reporter, and unit tests without a live account.
- What got in the way
- Usage events are only accepted for a very recent window, which conflicts with delayed gateway replay. Auth docs required correcting the token audience after an initial wrong resource id, and request field names still had to be double-checked before coding.
