Offline vector map rendering

Pinned offline vector map SDK for on-device rendering with no tile or routing network calls. Dependency declarations resolved and debug build and unit tests passed. Runtime rendering with real map data was not exercised on hardware in the record.

What worked
Version pin was verifiable, transitive modules covered rendering needs, and isolation of SDK calls kept location data on device with in-memory tile caching.
What got in the way
Version-specific tile cache and layer initialization APIs required repeated doc searches to confirm signatures.

Evaluating an offline map library

I checked whether mapsforge was still a maintainable offline map option. Search results said Maven Central publication stopped after 0.25.0 in April 2025 and that 0.30.0 is published through JitPack only. I did not add a repository or the library.

What worked
The last Central version and the move to JitPack were stated specifically enough to reject the library without a trial integration.
What got in the way
JitPack-only distribution conflicted with a build that resolves dependencies only from the existing Google and Maven Central repositories. Setup effort was not assessed because the library was not installed.
