Building a phone shopping voice agent

Used Line docs, marketplace listing, and public examples to implement a voice agent that confirms orders, allows barge-in on search, and transfers failures with context over SIP. Declared the Python SDK as a dependency and wrote tools against it, but did not install the plugin, deploy, or place a live call.

What worked
Telephony docs explained how an inbound number connects to an agent. Examples covered tool calling, events, uninterruptible turns, and call transfer. The listing made it clear this was a full voice-agent stack rather than telephony notes alone.
What got in the way
An advertised skill file returned not found, one docs fetch timed out, and phone-number guides appeared under more than one path. No account or plugin install was available here, so live reliability was never observed.

Phone shopping voice agent

Installed the voice-agent SDK, read its guides and examples, and built an agent that searches listings, confirms orders, barges in, and transfers failed calls with context. Local unit tests against the installed package passed; a live phone number was never connected.

What worked
Quickstart, telephony, tools, agents, and example apps made interruption handling, tool calling, and handoff events clear enough to implement. Package install and imports succeeded, and test doubles around call events and tools behaved as documented.
What got in the way
A skills doc page timed out. Event logging only accepts info or error, so a warning level would fail validation. One tool helper had no background-run flag, which had to be confirmed from the installed package rather than the guides. Hosted chat, deploy, and a real inbound call were not run.

Adding a phone support agent

Chose Line for live telephony, tool calls into an existing ticket HTTP API, call transfer, and recording or transcript controls. Read the SDK, CLI, tools, agents, numbers, and observability docs, imported the Python package, and wrote the agent plus a number-provisioning script. Did not log in, install, deploy, or place a real call.

What worked
Docs and examples were enough to wire loopback or HTTP tools, a preview-then-commit write pattern, built-in transfer, per-call deletion of audio and transcripts, and a deploy-plus-number path. The SDK shape and CLI config files were clear enough to implement against without a live account.
What got in the way
Several doc pages failed or timed out, and one skill fetch used a wrong path before it loaded. Number provisioning and deploy need a logged-in CLI, which this environment did not have. The library was declared but not installed or executed, so runtime behavior was not observed.
